The closing of fitness studios and gyms hasn’t stopped workouts for people who are determined to remain fit during COVID. Even if our summer vacations have been canceled, life will eventually resume. The notion of keeping active for your body AND your mind is a smart one. From simple setups that are best for mostly body weight work and lighter weights to larger scale setups that cost in the thousands, there is something for everyone as far as setting up a home workout system. Here are some Make it Happen home gyms to get ideas from:
Make it Happen Home Gyms:
Small, Simple, and Efficient: These types of home gym setups have the basics- think bands and smaller weights. They can work well for weight loss, endurance style training, and muscle maintenance. Only minimal space is needed, and in most cases, this portable gym can fit in your bedroom or pretty much any other living area. If you choose to invest in a Peloton, MIRROR, etc., this can put your budget to upwards of $2,000. Otherwise, a small home setup is pretty cost effective from $200-$500. It might be as simple as a mat and a view! Here are some of my favorite examples, courtesy of friends, family, and clients.
Medium sized, More dedicated space, and Effective: Medium setups require more space and more funds. This type of home gym is more creative with its tools and might incorporate things like gymnastics rings and kettlebells. Your budget can run from $1,000-$5,000 and with that in mind, can get more strength programming here and still have an area for functional play. Think dedicated spaces like a second bedroom, living room, or large patio to set up your modes of apparatus and not have to move between workouts.
Large, Lots of space, and You may never need another gym membership: Where there is a will, there is a way. These home gyms are so built-out and invested in, you’ll never need a gym membership again except for the social aspects of them. Equipment like this is the same you would see in a full gym with full racks of dumbbells, squat racks, and benches. The chosen spaces are utilized well, like a backyard or garage setting. These home gyms can run from $5,000-$20,000. Life post-COVID will never be the same, and home gyms like these are proving that.
From small and efficient, to large and in charge, these Make it Happen Home Gyms isnpire ideas for anyone who wants to keep active and in shape.
