Who else is “glow getting” this year? It seems as though 2019 was a tough year for a lot of us- so many messages of empowerment, breaking up with toxic people, focusing on self-love, finding your life’s balance to get us through last year. So if last year was about survival, this year should be about coming out the other side of it. Let’s glow 2020!
Here are 3 hacks I have for getting your glow on this year. The sooner the better!
- Cut back on processed sugar. I always do a January detox from sweets and processed sugars. Sugar can be so sneaky so being mindful of nutrition labels is everything. The biggest bummer is giving up marinara sauces and ketchup, even those have added sugars! The biggest win has been through my waistline and skin. Talk about a glow up! My tummy has gone down and my skin is dewy and less lines. Sugar in any form influences wrinkles and acne; Quitting sugar makes collagen and elastin more supple, radiant, elastic and resilient- less facial lines. When sugar is processed in the body, it causes a quick rise in insulin levels, which results in inflammation. So cutting sugar from your diet can… you guessed it- eliminate acne! Need I say more?
- Sleep more and with less interruptions. Even one night of bad sleep you probably sleep dark circles under your eyes and skin may look dry and pale. When we sleep our bodies recharge and so does our skin. According to Alaska Sleep Center: “During the first three hours of sleep your body will start producing the human growth hormone from the pituitary gland. As we age, this hormone is necessary for the maintenance of youthful and radiant skin. Without this hormone release skin is not repaired from daily damage and thus induces the aging process.” Some ways to get better sleep? Try turning off your phone and t.v. an hour before bed. Sleep on a high quality pillowcase. Wash your face nightly. Limit alcohol in the evening.
- Stick to more positive environments as best you can. I am true fan of the power of positive thinking. Not only is it great for stress management and minimizing drama, it also is great for the hormone known as cortisol. “Focusing on negative things increases the cortisol levels in the body which is a stress hormone — and we all know that people who are stressed don’t tend to have that radiant, healthy glow,” says experts at Total Beauty. Not only is a physical glow possible, but also just how much more youthful and lighter do we all look and feel with a better attitude? It is infectious ad uplifting.
may we all fall in love with ourselves this year and embrace our internal and external glow. Let’s glow 2020!
XOXO, me
