Is white before Labor Day still the main rule to follow? I can’t believe summer is almost over. Now that it has hit me we have a month left of half-day-Fridays, 8pm sunsets, and beach weather, I am scrambling to enjoy these last days and check some to-do’s off my list. Cheers to these End of Summer Fitness Tips. Here’s what we can focus on in these remaining 4 weeks.
Be Daring with your Summer Workout Gear:
In a time where fitness and athleisure wear is all the rage, why hide in black? I admit I am a culprit of the black tights syndrome, but that’s mostly because I have to work in all black. What’s your excuse? Save your dark blue and black yoga tights for winter time and enjoy some color during the summer. My all white outfit (pictured above), which I admittedly was scared to work out in for fear of getting dirty, ended up being so fun. It was a head turner and it made me feel alive. The brighter color woke up my senses and my confidence. It is from Fabletics but know other brands are also having fun with color and prints like Lorna Jane and Beyond Yoga.
Get Outside and Be Playful:
I know it is tempting to be indoors at a gym when the heat and humidity are gruesome. Get some great sunscreen and plan the best time to get outside and have fun. I helped a neighbor garden a few weeks; I was sore for days after. The thing was…it was so fun planting seeds and getting fresh air. Frisbee playing at a park or beach is always a good idea too. Your legs will thank you. Swimming, stand-up-paddle-boarding, and hiking all are also great ideas for being active and playful outdoors. The idea is to enjoy what remains of summertime before we are plunged into darker evenings and cold weather for another 9 months.
Satiate yourself with Seasonal Summer Food:
I can promise you that some of the best dishes are made in the summertime. Seasonal produce like peaches, figs, corn, leafy greens and green beans, are all best eaten in during summer. One of my favorites is a grilled peach dish with arugula and burrata cheese. Another is a non-GMO corn salad with tomatoes and avocado. Take advantage of the grill during summer and hosting backyard parties while wowing your friends and family with some healthy options that are super tasty.
