3 Self Care Trends to try in 2019
Since I’ve appointed myself a self care queen, I constantly am on the hunt for new things to try in order to share with others. 2018 was a year of many profound changes for me. My whole viewpoint on life shifted in the ways of my finances, my career, my relationships, and with myself. Recognizing this also meant figuring out ways to care for myself that would help to fill me up again when I felt exhausted from the growth happening in my life. Once the new year began, I sought out these 3 Self care trends to try in 2019:
Meditation apps. They’ve been out for a while now and I’m just really using them now. I go to a mediation studio in my area and while that’s wonderful, paying $25 per class is not. Getting better with my finances meant finding new ways to still enjoy them. I joined a 30 day meditation challenge on the Unplug App and just hit my 26th session. It has changed my life. I look forward to it. The options go by minutes, some of the app sessions are a minute, some 5, 10, and upwards. It’s a time to reflect, relax, get back to just breathing, even if I’m in the middle of a workday. https://www.unplug.com/30daymeditationchallenge
Infrared saunas. Now this one is totally new for me. There’s the classic sauna which employs a hot stove with heat up to 190F and then the infrared which employs a infrared heater with heat up to 140F. Too much time in a traditional sauna, can cause heat-related exhaustion and dehydration. In contrast to traditional saunas, the infrared energy in infrared saunas directly heats the skin, tissues, and muscles without the need to dramatically warm the air around you. Another plus to the infrared sauna is the truly intimate environment. The space in one can fit 2 people max, versus a traditional sauna which can house up to 10. My eczema has also seen improvement and being able to be in my little personal cubby alone has allowed me to truly enjoy the silence.
Financial podcasts. I’ve had the most fun with this one. Instead of blasting Cardi and Drake on my cardio playlist, I now plug into financial podcasts like Millennial Money, Investing for Beginners, and Suze Ormon’s Women and Finance. I think it’s great that are now so many outward conversations about money and we aren’t as ashamed to discuss out loud anymore. To me, financial health is part of our overall health. Financial stress takes a toll on us. The more we can educate ourselves about it and seek out tools to put us in a better situation with our money, the better our life quality can be. We can sleep better and enjoy our lives more.
I hope my 3 Self care trends to try in 2019 has been helpful for you. I don’t want to overeat this year, lose sleep, have my hair fall out again, and my hormones bouncing around. So here were the alternatives that I decided were best for me.
What are some favorite ways you’ve chosen to unwind for 2019?
Xoxo, Natasha
